High school/personal

  • Son of Dr. Michael Banas and Theresa Dubbelman-Banas.
  • His father, known as Mickey, was the starting center on The University of Scranton's men's basketball team that won the national title in 1983. He was a three-time All-American during his career and is a member of the University's Wall of Fame.
  • His sister, Caroline, is on the women's track & field team at the University.
