Andy Loughnane

Loughnane enters his second season as the head coach of the Royals in 2025. Loughnane became the fifth head coach in program history on June 10, 2024.

In his first season at the helm in 2024, Loughnane led the Royals to an 8-5-6 record (5-2-2 Landmark) and a return to the postseason for the first time since 2022. Scranton defeated Lycoming College on penalty kicks in the Landmark Conference Quarterfinals before falling to Juniata College in the semifinals. Four players earned All-Conference Honors this season, and junior Logan Campbell was named USC Scholar All-American.

He previously served as the head coach at Misericordia University for seven seasons, a tenure in which he led the Cougars to 55 victories and six MAC Freedom Playoff Appearances. Misericordia was the MAC Freedom Runner-Up in 2016 and 2021 and tallied double-digit win campaigns in 2016, 2021 & 2022. Loughnane mentored a total of 25 All-Conference selections and seven USC All-Region selections. 

Loughnane also spent time as the Sporting Director/Head Coach of the Electric City Shock, an NPSL franchise based in Scranton. 

The Caldwell, N.J., native began his coaching career at Scranton as an assistant for five seasons from 2011-2015 when he helped lead the Royals to an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2012 and a Landmark Conference title during his final season an assistant in 2015. 

Loughnane earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Caldwell University in 2011 and went on to earn his Masters of Science in biochemistry from Scranton in 2015. During his time at Caldwell, Loughnane played both soccer and tennis and served as a two-time team captain of the soccer team.
