TOWSON, Md.—Senior outside hitter Jenell McFadden (Springfield, Pa./Merion Mercy
Academy) reached a personal milestone for The University
of Scranton volleyball team Sunday afternoon at Goucher
College.
In a 3-1 loss to Susquehanna University, McFadden finished with 15
kills, including the 1000th of her career, as the Royals fell to
14-9 overall and 1-2 in the conference. She is now one of
only seven players in Scranton history to record more than 1000
kills in a career.
Sophomore outside hitter Julia Crilly (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute)
recorded her team-leading 13th and 14th
‘double-doubles’ of the season with 19 kills and 13
digs against Susquehanna and 17 kills and 10 digs in a 3-0 win in
the morning against Goucher College.
Against Goucher, senior libero Marissa Every (East Norriton, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph
Academy) had a match-high 21 digs and senior setter
Juli Woods (Wallingford, Pa./Strath
Haven) finished with 26 assists.
The Royals started off strong against Susquehanna, taking the first
set, 25-23, but after hitting a respectable .303 in the next set, a
25-18 loss, Scranton hit only .025 in the third set and .150 in the
fourth. Despite the loss, Woods had 43 assists to go over the
1900 career mark. She is now fifth all-time in Scranton
history with 1904 assists.
Scranton returns to action this Wednesday, October 3, against
Cortland State University beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Long
Center.
