SCRANTON, Pa. - Senior forward Lara Haab (Gladwyne, Pa./Country Day School Sacred Heart) scored a goal in each half and added an assist, as the University of Scranton field hockey team raced past visiting Drew on Wednesday night, 5-0, in Landmark Conference play at Fitzpatrtick Field.

With the win, Scranton moved to 12-1 overall on the year and 3-1 in the Landmark Conference. Drew fell to 1-11 and 0-4 in Landmark play with the defeat.

The scoring started early for Scranton in the victory, as Haab tallied her first score of the evening one minute and 13 seconds into the match, giving the Royals the early 1-0 lead on the unassisted goal.

In the 21st minute, Haab sent off a pass to senior Alyssa Whitman (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley), who scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season to give the Royals a 2-0 lead that extended into intermission.

The offensive output for Scranton rolled on in the second half, as junior Elizabeth Yorey (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) scored her second goal of the season off an assist from senior Jessica Pankey (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) to give the Royals a 3-0 lead two minutes into the second half.

The final two goals of the contest were scored late and within four minutes of one another. First, senior Krista Osborne (Blue Bell, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy) scored her seventh goal of the year off a Whitman assist to put the Royals up four in the 56th minute, then Haab finished off the scoring on the evening in the 60th minute off an Osborne assist.

The five-goal output for the Scranton offense was their second highest in a match for the year (the Royals scored six goals at Keystone on Sept. 5). On defense, the Royals were also able to pitch their third straight shutout, as the team hasn't allowed a goal in 105 minutes of play.

Overall, Scranton held a decisive 21-2 advantage on shots in the match, as sophomore goalie Christina Black (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) recorded another shutout (her seventh of the year) after making a save on the evening.

The University of Scranton field hockey team returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to Catholic for a big Landmark Conference tilt on the road. Things get underway at 1 p.m.
