WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Junior Nora Boussatta (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) and sophomore Rachel Kerr (Dickson City, Pa./Scranton Prep) both won events on Saturday to lead The University of Scranton women's track & field team at the Monarch Open hosted by Kings, the final tune-up for the Royals before next weekend's Landmark Conference Championships.
Boussatta won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.80 while Kerr finished first in the 5000 meter run after clocking in at 18:50.10.
Boussatta and Kerr both led Scranton to 1-2 finishes in both events as freshman Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) took second in the 5000, clocking in at 18:52.54, while freshman Nikki George (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) was the runner-up in the 800 with a mark of 2:32.37.
Sophomore Emily de Onis (Blue Town, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) enjoyed a strong performance in the 400 meter hurdles, running a personal record time of 1:17.82 to finish second in the event.
In the shot put, junior Hannah Tracy (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) brought home a runner-up result with a season-best throw of 10.11 meters while junior Caroline Banas (Dallas, Pa./Holy Redeemer) took second in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters.
Scranton will head to Goucher next Saturday and Sunday for the Landmark Conference Championships. The action is slated to kick off at 9 a.m. in Towson, Maryland on Saturday.
