SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's basketball team (6-2, 6-2 Landmark) opened the game on a 16-0 run and led wire to wire in a 71-59 win over the Juniata Eagles (3-5, 3-5 Landmark) on Saturday afternoon at the John Long Center in Scranton.

Prior to the game, the Royals honored the program's senior class of Logan Bailey (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep), Brian Monaghan (Florham Park, N.J./Morristown-Beard) and Jack Stafford (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK).

Scranton wraps up the regular season at 6-2 and will host a Landmark Conference semifinal matchup on Wednesday night with time and opponent to be determined. Junior Jackson Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights) led all scorers with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting and was joined in double figures by sophomore Stephen Braunstein (Colts Neck, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) who added 12 points and Monaghan who chipped in 10 points.

Cameron Keck paced Juniata with 14 points.

The Royals buried five threes in the first five plus minutes of the game capped by a triple from Braunstein that opened up a 16-0 lead with 14:35 left in the first half. Juniata rallied to cut the lead to 10 at 22-12, but sophomore Jack Lambert (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) responded with five straight points for the Royals to ignite a 9-0 run that opened up a 31-12 advantage at the 5:49 mark. The Eagles sliced the lead to nine with a 13-3 run before Danzig's jumper in the final seconds gave the hosts a 36-25 lead at the half.

Juniata scored the first six points of the second half to cut the lead to five, but Bailey connected on a three to make it a 39-31 game with 16:05 to play. The two teams traded baskets for much of the next six minutes and sophomore Ryan Ems' (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) three-point play with 9:50 left gave Scranton a 50-37 lead, but the Eagles once again cut the lead back to seven at 56-49 with 5:02 to play before a quick 7-0 run capped by a Danzig layup stretched the lead to 14 with 1:47 remaining. The Royals preserved the victory by going 8-of-8 from the free throw line in the final minute as Braunstein and Monaghan made four free throws apiece during that stretch.

Scranton shot 47.7% (21-of-44) from the floor and 45.0% (9-of-20) from deep, while connecting on 20-of-27 (74.1%) from the charity stripe. The Eagles were 20-of-53 (37.7%) from the field and 3-of-15 (20%) from beyond the arc on the afternoon.

Head coach Carl Danzig's club held a 32-31 edge in the rebounding battle led by five rebounds apiece from the trio of Danzig, Ems and Monaghan.
