Healy of Women's Soccer Garners USC Scholar All-American Honors; Haggerty & Olson Nab Scholar All-East Region Accolades

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Senior midfielder Niamh Healy (Orangeburg, N.Y./Tappan Zee) garnered United Soccer Coaches' (USC) Scholar All-American First Team accolades and two other members of The University of Scranton women's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches' Scholar All-East Region honors as announced by the organization on Friday.

Healy also garnered First Team Scholar All-Region accolades, while fellow senior midfielder Mary Haggerty (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and junior goalie Nicole Olson (Stoughton, Mass./Ursuline Academy) were selected to the Third Team.

This marks the second straight year that Haggerty and Healy have received Scholar All-East Region honors and the first of Olson's career.

Scholar All-American and Scholar All-Region recognizes student-athletes for their performance both on the field and in the classroom.

Healy put together an impressive season offensively for the Royals as she led the Landmark Conference in goals (19), points (40) and game-winning goals (seven). She tallied two goals apiece in Landmark postseason victories over Elizabethtown and Catholic en route to earning MVP honors.

In the classroom, the Orangeburg, N.Y., native holds a 3.56 GPA as an Accounting major.

For Haggerty, the senior tied for the conference lead with nine assists and she also added four goals on the season including game-winners in victories over Goucher and Susquehanna. An Occupational Therapy major, she holds a 3.66 GPA.

Olson ranked among the top goalies in the Landmark as she was second in goals against average (0.81), save percentage (.795) and shutouts (eight). The Stoughton, Mass., native allowed just one goal in three postseason contests and made three saves in a 3-0 Landmark title game victory over Catholic. Olson boasts a 4.0 GPA in Kinesiology.

All three earned CSC Academic All-District honors earlier this fall.

The trio helped lead Scranton to a fourth straight Landmark Conference title and seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
