MOOSIC, Pa. – Junior Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) earned medalist honors with a 72 (+1) and sophomore Gehrig Shannon (Bernardsville, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) sank the first hole in one in program history as The University of Scranton men's golf team topped Bloomsburg and King's in a tri-match on Thursday afternoon at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
Scranton registered a team score of 299 on the day and defeated Bloomsburg 299-303 while also adding a 299-351 win over King's.
Harding led all golfers with a 72 (+1) on the day and was followed Shannon with a 74 (+3) and junior Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) with a 76 (+5). Rounding things out for the Royals was sophomore Juliano Nieto (Archbald, Pa./Holy Cross) with a 77 (+6) and a 79 (+8) from sophomores Luke Merlan (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) and Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic).
For Shannon, the Bernardsville, N.J., native carded a hole in one on the ninth hole which marked the first in program history.
The Royals will host Misericordia and Wilkes in a tri-match on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Glenmaura.
