University of Scranton men's golfer Cade Kelleher has been named Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week after earning medalist honors in both of the Royals' dual matches, helping Scranton extend its unbeaten start to 5-0.
Kelleher opened the week on Thursday with an even-par 72 and four birdies at Glen Oak Country Club, leading Scranton to a 294-325 win over King's College. He finished one stroke ahead of teammate Jake Lairdieson (73).
On Sunday, Kelleher turned in on of the best rounds of his career at Huntsville Golf Club in Dallas, Pa., firing a four-under 68 to top the field in a 293-338 victory over Wilkes University. He birdied the first two holes, added three more birdies on the day, and matched the second-lowest round in University of Scranton men's golf history. His score was five strokes better than the next-best Royal, Richard Essen (73), and four strokes better than Wilkes' top finisher, Brady Noone (72).
