Cade Kelleher fired a four-under 68 to earn medalist honors, matching the second-lowest round in University of Scranton men's golf history, as the Royals defeated Wilkes University 293-338 in a dual match Sunday afternoon at Huntsville Golf Club.
Scranton finished 45 strokes ahead of the Colonels, who were led by Brady Noone's even-par 72. The Royals improved to 5-0 on the season.
Kelleher led all players on the course, birdieing the opening two holes and adding three more birdies in his round. Richard Essen followed with a 73, opening the day with an eagle on hole one before adding four more birdies. Joey Dell shot a 75 and Jake Lairdieson posted a 77 to complete the Royals' team total of 293. Brayden Meditz added a 79 and Jack Leonard shot an 80.
Wilkes' Ryan Hacker shot an 81, while Anthony Cencetti (92), Jayden Bleiler (93) and Daniel Nau (94) rounded out the Colonels' scorers.
Scranton will next compete at the DeSales Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, at Olde Homestead Golf Club in New Tripoli, Pa.Â
