Scranton, PA -- Following a scoreless opening half, The University of Scranton men's soccer team outscored Marywood 3-0 in the second half to take down the Pacers on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Royals advance to 5-0-1 on the season as they get set to enter conference play this weekend.
Junior
Ciaran Corr (Newtown Square, Pa. / Marple Newtown) opened up the scoring on the night in the 50th minute when he scored off an assist from fellow junior
Sean Quin (Stony Point, N.Y. Albertus Magnus).
Scranton added another goal to its tally just eight minutes later as freshman
Matt Capretto (Hockessin, Del. / Charter School of Wilmington) scored the first goal of his career at Scranton to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. Quin picked up his second assist of the night on the goal.
Sophomore
Justin Curran (Media, Pa. / The Shipley School) finished off the scoring on the night as he found the back of the net off an assist from freshman
Rob Patrissi (Garden City, N.Y. Garden City).
Senior
Dylan Estevez (Garnerville, N.Y. / Don Bosco Prep) led the Royals with four shots in his first action of the season. Senior goalkeeper
Joe Weinstein (Manasquan, N.J. / Manasquan) earned his first career start and first career shutout in the win.
The Royals are set to open up Landmark Conference play this weekend at Elizabethtown at 1:00 PM.
