ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Seniors Alyssa Benzija (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) and Jaclyn Papalski (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) both won two events apiece and The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team notched a 154-108 victory over the Elizabethtown Blue Jays.
With the victory, Scranton remains unbeaten in dual meets on the season and is now 9-0.
Benzija captured the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.51 and the 200 back in 2:20.55, while Papalski took first place in the 500 free with a time of 5:30.75 and the 200 IM in 2:22.40.
Elsewhere for the Royals, junior Bella Davis (Atlantic Beach, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) won the 1,000 free in 11:44.55, senior Kayleigh Olszewski (Conshohocken, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) took first place in the 200 fly in 2:19.69 and junior Alanna Kelly (Yonkers, N.Y./School of the Holy Child) captured the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:36.01.
Olszewski added a second-place finish in the 200 IM in 2:24.40 and freshman Katherine Grefski (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) posted a second-place finish in the 1,000 free in 11:57.77 and third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:25.76.
The Royals also captured first place in the 200 medley relay as the quartet of Benzija, senior Giavanna Baquerizo (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), Kelly and freshman Gianna Horen (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) won the event with a time of 1:57.82.
Senior Michelle Kong (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.11 and third in the 200 fly at 2:25.48.
Scranton is set to host the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternoon at the Byron Recreation Complex with action slated to get underway at 1 p.m.
