Volleyball Sweeps Wilkes, 3-0

SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton women's volleyball team defeated Wilkes University 3-0 Saturday night at the John Long Center to extend their conference win streak. 

The Basics

  • Final Score: 3-0W (25-16, 25-13, 25-21)
  • Records: Scranton (14-11, 6-0 LC) Wilkes (4-17, 0-6 LC)

How it Happened

  • In the first set, the Royals scored six straight points to take a 23-14 lead and finished out the set 25-16.  
  • Freshman Ava Seidenstein entered the game in the second set and scored back-to-back kills to give Scranton a 23-10 lead. She later ended the set with another kill, and the Royals won 25-13. 
  • Despite an offensive charge by the Colonels, the Royals held on to win the third set 25-21. 

Top Performers

  • Freshman Danielle Kramer recorded a game-high seven kills while classmate Kassidy Means added six of her own. 
  • Kramer also finished with four blocks, and Means had 4 aces alongside Sophomore Cammi Quirk.
  • Senior Gianna Detorie recorded 14 assists for the Royals 

Inside the Box Score

  • Scranton's service proved costly to the Colonels, as the Royals recorded 12 aces as a team.

The Royals will host Moravian tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM in the John Long Center.
