Men's Soccer Ties Catholic, 1-1

WASHINGTON, DC -- The University of Scranton men's soccer team battled Catholic University to a 1-1 draw in Landmark Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Carlini Field.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Scranton 1, Catholic 1
  • Records: Scranton (4-2-4, 1-0-1 LC), Catholic (3-5-2, 0-0-2 LC)
How it Happened
  • Neither side was able to get on the score sheet in the first half as Scranton held a 4-3 advantage in shots and forced a pair of saves out of Catholic's goalkeeper Owen Allegro. 
  • Junior Preston Rushmore almost got Scranton on the board in the 47th minute as he hit the crossbar. 
  • In the 78th minute, junior Nick Suraci served a ball into the box that found the head of senior Ciaran Corr who redirected it towards the mouth of the goal where junior Logan Campbell was waiting to bury the opening goal of the game and put Scranton up 1-0. 
  • Just three minutes later Domenico Caltabiano of Catholic converted a penalty kick to tie the game up at 1-1.

  • Campbell scored his first goal of the season and fourth of his career.
  • Corr posted his first assist of the year.
  • Junior goalkeeper Charlie Smith made three saves for Scranton.
