Women’s Cross Country Takes 9th at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships

LOCK HAVEN, PA -- The University of Scranton women's cross-country team finished ninth as a team at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships Saturday afternoon at Lock Haven University.

Top Performers

  • Senior Samantha Hoffmann finished first for the Royals, crossing the line 29th in a season-best time of 22:11:9. 
  • Junior Emily Hopkins finished 38th in a time of 22:33:9.
  • Sophomore Kyrianna Nemitz crossed the line in 48th with a season-best clip of 22:47:0, and classmate Callie Gorman finished 50th with a new personal-best time of 22:52:7. 
  • Freshman Emma DiLemme finished 100th, sophomore Anya Kelly 110th, and junior Samantha Sonnie 122nd to round out the score sheet for the Royals.

Inside the Score Sheet

  • This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Royals have placed in the top ten at the regional meet. 
  • Scranton scored 261 points to claim ninth out of 30 teams, finishing just above Landmark Conference opponent Elizabethtown.
  • Johns Hopkins took home its 13th straight Mid-Atlantic regional title with 34 points. Washington & Jefferson's Claire Anderson captured the individual title, crossing the line in 21:04:9.
