Women's Tennis Blanks Susquehanna In Landmark Opener, 9-0

ORLANDO, FL -- The University of Scranton women's tennis team posted an impressive 9-0 win over Susquehanna in Landmark Conference action on Tuesday in Orlando, FL.

The Royals move to 2-0 on the spring season with the win over the River Hawks. 

Doubles
  • In No. 1 doubles, the team of graduate student Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa. / Hazelton Area) and junior Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J. / Bernards) won by a score of 8-1. 
  • The freshman duo of Gisele Falzone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa. / Scranton Prep) and Kyleigh McNulty (Bay Shore, N.Y. St. Anthony's) earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
  • At No. 3 doubles, junior Julia Nocentino (Mantua, N.J. / Kingsway Regional) and senior Lydia Grossman (Honesdale, Pa. / Honesdale) toppled their opponents with an  8-0 win.
Singles
  • Nowak shined at No. 1 singles for Scranton with set wins of 6-1 and 6-3 over Julia Bramley of Susquehanna. 
  • At No. 2 singles, Wisnieski edged out Bella Scoppaticci in the first set with an 8-6 tie break and finished it off in the second set with a 6-3 win. 
  • Falzone secured a victory for the Royals in No. 3 singles with set wins of 6-4, 6-1 over Alexa Wannamaker. 
  • Sophomore Olivia Sirico (Westtown, N.Y. / Minisink Valley) cruised to victory in No. 4 Singles with sets of 6-1, 6-0. 
  • The No. 5 singles match saw sophomore Paige Hunt (West Henrietta, N.Y. / Rush-Henrietta) win in straight sets of 6-1, 6-1.
  • Junior Taralyn Reilly (Archbald, Pa. / Valley View) won the No. 6 singles match for Scranton with sets of 6-3, 6-3. 
The Royals return to action on Thursday for matches against Ohio Wesleyan at 7:30 AM and Bellhaven (Miss.) at 6:00 PM.
