CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (5-5, 3-0 Landmark) won all three doubles matches and remained unbeaten in Landmark Conference play with a 6-3 victory over the Goucher Gophers (4-5, 2-1 Landmark) on Sunday at Birchwood Racquet Club in Clarks Summit.
The No. 1 duo of graduate student Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area)/junior Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) notched an 8-4 victory and sophomore Kyleigh McNulty (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's)/freshman Gisele Falzone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Scranton Prep) recorded a thrilling 8-7 win at the second flight. Scranton completed the sweep as senior Lydia Grossman (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale)/junior Julia Nocentino (Mantua, N.J./Kingsway Regional) posted an 8-5 victory in third doubles action.
Nowak tallied a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win over Aaliyah Ybarra in No. 1 singles play and Wisniewski added a 7-6, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles to help clinch the match for the Royals. Falzone also rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Eliza Abady at third singles.
Scranton is back in action on Wednesday afternoon at Drew with first serve slated for 4 p.m.
