CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's tennis team (2-8, 1-2 Landmark) dropped a 7-2 decision to the Goucher College Gophers (6-7, 3-0 Landmark) on Sunday at Birchwood Racquet Club in Clarks Summit.
Scranton's No. 1 doubles duo of freshmen Maxwell Dombrowski (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) and Lucas Kotcho (Jermyn, Pa./Valley View) recorded a thrilling 8-7 victory, but Goucher captured the final two doubles matches by identical scores of 8-2.
Dombrowski added a 6-0, 6-4 victory at the first singles flight. Elsewhere for the Royals, freshman Harrison Clark (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) dropped a three-set heartbreaker (6-4, 3-6, 3-6) at third singles and Kotcho fell to Goucher's Angel Cerpa in a 4-6, 6-3, 4-6 decision at fourth singles.
The Royals will host FDU-Florham in a non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Courts with first serve set for 4 p.m.
