SCRANTON, Pa.
– The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team (10-2, 5-0 Landmark) remained undefeated in Landmark Conference play after beating the Drew Rangers (6-7, 2-3 Landmark) by a score of 17-7 on Wednesday at Weiss Field in Scranton.

Drew opened the scoring in the contest just three minutes in, but the Royals and junior Grace Lane (Long Beach, N.Y. / Sacred Heart Academy) evened the score at one apiece just two minutes later. Later in the quarter, 25 seconds after Drew retook the lead, Lane scored again and tied the game at 2-2.

Freshman Jillian Lopez (Sayville, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) began the second quarter with a goal assisted by senior Devyn Tanajewski (Ringwood, N.J. / Lakeland Regional). Lopez would then score two more times in the quarter, while six other Royals followed suit, capping off a streak of ten straight unanswered goals and taking an 11-2 lead into halftime.

To begin play in the third, the duo Lane and Tanajewski added a goal apiece for the Royals, extending their lead to 13-2. The Rangers continued to battle, though, and scored twice before the end of the quarter.

Although Drew would score three more in the fourth quarter, the Royals were able to close out the game with four fourth quarter goals of their own, including two from Lane and one apiece from junior Molly McCarren (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) and senior Lauren Crotty (Long Beach, N.Y. Kellenberg Memorial).

Lane led the team with six goals while also getting credit for one assist, one caused turnover, and two ground balls and Lopez posted her fourth hat trick of the season.  McCarren scored twice to go along with ground balls and three caused turnovers and Tanajewski led the team with four caused turnovers while also tallying two goals in the win.

Goalie Lauren Boldis (Merrick, N.Y. / Sanford H. Calhoun) made seven saves and was credited with the win, and sophomore Eva Guerino (Hopewell, N.J. / Pennington School) entered the game in relief of Boldis and racked up five saves herself over the final 15 minutes of action

The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team is back in action Saturday against Elizabethtown with a 1:00 pm start time at Weiss Field in Scranton. The team will honor its 2024 seniors before the afternoon's Landmark Conference matchup.
