Women's Tennis Sweeps Singles En Route to 8-1 Victory Over Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (8-7, 6-2 Landmark) won all six singles matches en route to an 8-1 victory over the Lycoming Warriors (3-12, 2-6 Landmark) on Wednesday evening at Brandon Park in Williamsport.

Scranton led 2-1 after doubles as the duo of graduate student Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area)/freshman Gisele Falzone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Scramton Prep) recorded an 8-1 victory at the first flight and junior Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards)/freshman Kyleigh McNulty (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) recorded an 8-3 win in second doubles action.

With the victory, Nowak now has 51 career doubles wins which is two away from matching both the program and Landmark Conference record of 53.

Nowak rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Lycoming's Emily Wolfgang in No. 1 singles and Wisniewski notched a 6-3, 6-0 win over Emma Kelchner at No. 2 singles.

Falzone cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at third singles and junior Taralyn Reilly (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) registered a 6-3, 7-6 victory against Sarah Lanphear in fourth singles play.

Rounding out the singles winners for the Royals was sophomore Olivia Sirico (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) with a 6-3, 6-0 win over the Warriors' Hiyori Iai in No. 5 singles and classmate Paige Hunt (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) with an 8-1 decision at No. 6 singles.

Scranton will head to Juniata on Friday afternoon with first serve slated for 4 p.m.
