Nowak Matches Career Singles Wins Record as Women's Tennis Topples Wilkes, 8-1

SCRANTON, Pa. – Graduate student Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) matched the program's career singles wins record and The University of Scranton women's tennis team (7-6, 5-1 Landmark) won all six singles matches in an 8-1 victory over the Wilkes Colonels (3-7, 3-3 Landmark) on Tuesday at the Royal Courts in Scranton.

Nowak notched a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Wilkes' Tea Amerise at No. 1 singles for the 49th victory of her career, matching the program record that had been set by Emily Walsh in 2016.

Her 49 wins are also tied for fifth-most all-time in Landmark Conference history.

The Royals held an early 2-1 lead after doubles as the duo of freshman Gisele Falzone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Scranton Prep)/freshman Kyleigh McNulty (Bay Shore, N.Y./St. Anthony's) notched a thrilling 8-7 victory at the second flight and junior Julia Nocentino (Mantua, N.J./Kingsway Regional)/senior Lydia Grossman (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) registered an 8-1 win at third doubles.

To go along with Nowak's straight set win at No. 1 singles, junior Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Cassidy Greenman at No. 2 singles. Falzone added a 6-1, 6-2 win over Zoe Klein at third singles.

Junior Taralyn Reilly (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) was a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Kaitlyn O'Neil at the fourth singles and sophomore Paige Hunt (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) added a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Karlee Yuscavage in fifth singles. In No. 6 singles, senior Maddy Abood (Plainfield, N.J./Union Catholic) rounded things out for the Royals with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Kensington Edmond.
