SCRANTON, Pa. – The No. 3 seed University of Scranton baseball team (27-11) is set to battle No. 2 seed Catholic (30-10) in Landmark Conference Tournament action on Friday night at Volpe Field with first pitch slated for 7 p.m.
Friday's other opening round contest features top-seeded Elizabethtown (29-10) against No. 4 seed Susquehanna (21-20) with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m.
This weekend's tournament features a four-team double elimination format with the winner earning the Landmark's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The field of 60 is slated to be announced on Monday afternoon at 12 p.m. in a live selection show on NCAA.com.

Ticket prices for the weekend are as follows: $10 for adults and $5 for children ages (10-17), while children nine and under are free as are all Landmark students, faculty and staff with a valid school ID.

Three of the four teams are represented in the latest NCAA Region V rankings as Catholic is third, Scranton is fourth and Elizabethtown is fifth.
The Royals enter the weekend in search of the program's second Landmark title after capturing the crown in 2021.
A season ago, Susquehanna defeated the Royals in the conference championship.
On the season, Scranton has hit .288 as a team and ranks second in the conference with 306 runs scored. Sophomore utility Vincent Napolitano (Merrick, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) leads the team with a .375 batting average and junior third baseman Jake Elston (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) has hit .372 with eight home runs, three triples, three home runs and 32 RBI in 36 games.
Senior first baseman John Zarnowski (East Brunswick, N.J./St. Joseph's) leads the team and Landmark Conference with 50 RBI and has hit .336 on the year, while fellow senior outfielder Jack Heineman (Abington, Pa./LaSalle College) has posted a .307 average with a team-high 12 doubles.
Elsewhere for Scranton, sophomore second baseman Aidan Casey (Silver Beach, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) has hit .331 and leads the team with 20 stolen bases. In fact, Casey is 20-for-21 on stolen base attempts.
On the mound, senior lefty Jason Carpenter (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) has posted a 3-1 record with three saves and a 1.88 ERA across 16 relief appearances. Senior southpaw Matt Roda (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) has not allowed an earned run in six of his 10 appearances and owns a 2.93 ERA.
Graduate student righty Daniel Johnson (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Immaculata) has a 6-0 record with a 3.48 ERA in eight starts for the Royals and classmate Hunter Ralston (Duryea, Pa./Pittston Area) is 4-1 with a 4.77 ERA in 12 games (10 starts).
For Catholic, sophomore lefty Roman Tozzi leads the Landmark in both wins (eight) and ERA (1.82). Offensively, graduate student Zach Burton is tops on the team in both batting average (.385) and home runs (eight). Burton also has 39 RBI which is second on the team behind Mitchel Johnson who leads the way with 41.
