Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y. / Seton Catholic Central) fired off a 70 (-1) to lead The University of Scranton men's golf team to a 294-321 victory over Wilkes on Tuesday afternoon at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
Burtis earned medalist honors on the day with his impressive round. Fellow senior
Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal) finished one stroke behind Burtis with a 71 (E).Â
Freshman
Richard Essen (Rochester, N.Y. / McQuaid Jesuit) carded a 76 (+5) in his collegiate debut for the Royals. Juniors
Gehrig Shannon (Bernardsville, N.J. / Saint Peter's Prep) and
Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) shot 77 (+6) and 79 (+8) respectively.
Junior
Juliano Nieto (Archbald, Pa. / Holy Cross) rounded out the lineup for Scranton with an 80 (+9).
The men's golf team returns to action on Monday, September 16 at the Moravian Invitational hosted at Saucon Valley Country Club.
