Men's Soccer Suffers 2-1 Defeat at Misericordia

DALLAS, PA --  The University of Scranton men's soccer team dropped a non-conference road match at Misericordia on Tuesday evening with a final score of 2-1.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Misericordia - 2, Scranton - 1
  • Records: Misericordia (2-5-1), Scranton (3-2-2)
How it Happened
  • The Cougars scored the opening goal of the game in the 22nd minute as Patrick Sipera found the back of the net off an assist from Drew Weaver.
  • Misericordia added a second goal in the 29th minute as Reese Dieffenderfer scored off a feed from Max Jamieson. 
  • Junior Justin Curran got the Royals on the board in the 44th minute as he received a low cross from sophomore Joey Moore and buried a shot with his left foot into the bottom right corner.
  • Scranton held the momentum in the second half and out shot Misericordia 10-2 but were unable to find an equalizer as the Cougars went on to win the game, 2-1.

  • Curran recorded his first goal of the season.
  • Moore picked up his first career point with the assist on Curran's goal. 
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Ned Van Loan made his first career start for Scranton and posted one save.
