Volleyball Falls to Wesleyan, 3-1

SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton women's volleyball team dropped a closely contested 3-1 match to Wesleyan University on Friday evening at the John Long Center.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Wesleyan 3, Scranton 1
  • Records: Wesleyan (6-4), Scranton (6-6)
How it Happened
  • After falling down 22-18 in the opening set, the Royals fought back to get within one point of Wesleyan but would go on to lose the set 25-23.
  • Scranton held a 21-16 lead in the second set, but the Cardinals went on a 9-2 run to close out the set and secure a 2-0 lead in the match. 
  • The Royals picked up a 25-23 win in the third set which was capped off with service ace from senior Katherine Denitz. 
  • Wesleyan closed out the match in the fourth set with a 25-18 win. 
Top Performers
  • Freshman Kassidy Means led the Royals with 13 kills in the match.
  • Sophomore Cammi Quirk recorded a team-high 20 assists.
Inside the Box Score
  • Wesleyan posted 53 kills while Scranton had 52.
  • Scranton held an 8-7 advantage in service aces.
