How it Happened Â
- After a scoreless first quarter, Scranton took a 1-0 lead just 2:34 into the second period. Sophomore Lydia Bechtel ripped a shot into the circle that was deflected into the back of the cage by junior Ava De Natale, giving the Royals the lead.
- Scranton added its second goal of the contest on a penalty corner with 8:11 left in the third quarter. After the initial shot by the Royals was blocked, senior Kiera Lamb connected with sophomore Olivia Dougherty, who scored to make it 2-0 Scranton.
- With 2:41 left in the third, freshman Olivia Burdo fired a reverse into the circle after a breakaway that was tipped into the goal by senior Annie Shaw to extend the Royals' lead to 3-0.
- Catholic scored its only goal of the game with just 49 seconds left to go in the game on its fourth penalty corner of the afternoon to break up the shutout.
