SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton field hockey team soundly defeated Goucher College, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at Weiss Field.

How it Happened
- Goucher got the scoring started in the sixth minute of the game as Madison Usher snuck a shot past the Royals' defense to put the Gophers ahead 1-0.
- The Royals evened the score with 41 seconds left in the first quarter. Freshman Gracie Buchholz connected with senior Annie Shaw inside the circle, and Shaw found the back of the cage to tie the game at 1-1.
- Scranton took the lead on its eighth penalty corner of the first quarter with only one second left on the clock. The insertion from senior Kiera Lamb went to junior Maggie Keys, who fired a shot that was tipped into the cage by Shana Goldsmith to put Scranton ahead 2-1.
- The Royals extended their lead to 3-1 just 5:40 into the second quarter, when Shaw carried the ball into the circle and fired a crosser that Goldsmith redirected into the cage for her second goal of the day.
- With 2:52 on the clock in the fourth quarter, senior Emily Gallagher took the insertion on a corner and fired a bullet into far right corner of the cage for her first career goal to make it a 4-1 Scranton advantage. Lamb recorded her second assist of the game on the play.
