SCRANTON, PA. - The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team took down Catholic University 16-8 in the Landmark Conference Semifinals on Thursday evening at Weiss Field.
The Basics:

- Records: Scranton (10-8, 9-0 Landmark), Catholic (9-8, 6-3 Landmark)
- With the win, Scranton will play in the Landmark Title Game for the third straight season with the chance to win its third consecutive Championship.
How it Happened:
- Scranton opened the scoring just 1:24 into the game as junior Quinn Carson fired a shot and scored to make it 1-0 Scranton.
- The Royals added a second goal with 6:51 left in the first when junior Jason Kozak scored an unassisted goal.
- The Cardinals responded and tied the game with a pair of goals separated by just 47 seconds to even the score at 2-2.
- Scranton went on a three-goal run in the middle part of the second quarter. First, Carson scored his second of the day at the 10:03 mark, and then senior Riley Kahill scored two goals in a span of two minutes to give Scranton a 5-2 advantage.
- Catholic answered with its third goal at the 4:32 mark, but Scranton got it right back 1:31 later when sophomore Brendan Donohue found junior Kyle Holmes who ripped a shot and scored to give the Royals a 6-3 lead.
- Sophomore Myles McCutcheon took a pass from classmate Thomas Popolizio and scored a goal to begin the third quarter.
- The Cardinals responded less than a minute later to cut Scranton's advantage to 7-4.
- Holmes made it 8-4 with his second goal of the game at the 5:42 mark, and Kozak scored his second goal of the game with 3:47 left in the third to make the score 9-4 Scranton.
- With just 1:26 left in the third period, Catholic cut the lead to four with a goal.
- Carson answered with a goal with just 33 seconds remaining in the quarter, and then freshman David Dubas scored with just eight seconds left in the period to extend the lead to 11-5.
- Senior Liam Sayre scored the 12th Scranton goal of the game with 12:55 to go in the fourth quarter, and Holmes scored his third goal of the night to extend the lead to 13-5.
- With 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Catholic scored its sixth goal of the game to cut the lead to seven. Then, 2:27 later, the Cardinals scored again to make it a 13-7 game.
- Sophomore Tommy Tremarco scored his first goal of the contest at the 6:09 mark of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 14-7.
- Dubas extended the lead to eight goals with his second goal of the game with 3:08 left in the contest. Junior Pat McCormack joined the scoring barrage with his first of the day just 37 seconds later to make it 16-9.
- Catholic scored with 2:04 left on the clock to cut the Scranton lead down to 16-8.
Top Performers:
- Carson led the team with four points on three goals and one assist.
- Holmes scored three times.
- Sophomore goalie Carsen Kirchner made 18 saves in the win.
