SCRANTON, PA – The University of Scranton women's volleyball team earned a hard-fought five-set victory over Eastern University on Friday evening at the John Long Center, topping the Eagles by a 3–2 score in non-conference action.

How It Happened

• Eastern edged out the opening set, 26–24, despite Scranton outhitting the Eagles .244 to .109.

• The Royals responded strong, winning the second and third sets by scores of 25–14 and 25–15 behind a red-hot offense that hit .400 and .333 in those frames, respectively.

• Eastern forced a fifth set with a 25–21 win in the fourth.

• In a back-and-forth final set, Scranton closed it out 15–13 with key kills and timely defense at the net.

• Deanna Whelpley posted a dominant performance with a season-high 25 kills, hitting .328.

• Adria Vargas added 15 kills and 3 assists, while Erin Gretsky tallied 13 kills and 6 blocks.

• Cammi Quirk orchestrated the offense with a career-best 63 assists.

• On defense, Camryn Hoffman led with 19 digs, followed by Gabby Konrad (16) and Maddie Forry (15).

• Danielle Kramer added 9 blocks, helping Scranton register 13 team blocks on the night.

• Konrad also contributed 5 service aces, part of a 10-ace effort by the Royals.
