SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton field hockey team won its third straight game as they took down Vassar College, 5-3, Wednesday night at Weiss Field.

- This is the first time since 2022 that the field hockey team has begun a season with three straight victories.
How it Happened
- Scranton got the scoring started in the sixth minute of the contest when junior Ava De Natale deflected a ball from sophomore Lydia Bechtel into the back of the cage to give Scranton a 1-0 lead.
- The Royals added their second goal of the game 1:57 into the second quarter when junior Maggie Keys fired the ball to senior Annie Shaw who then redirected the pass into the cage to make it 2-0 Scranton.
- Vassar scored its first goal of the game with just 4:53 to go in the first half to cut Scranton's lead down to one goal.
- Five minutes into the third quarter, the Royals scored a goal on a corner attempt for the first time this season. Junior Gabi Horn inserted the ball to the top of the key and then was there to deflect a shot from Bechtel into the cage for her first career goal to give Scranton a 3-1 edge.
- Just 6:59 after Horn scored, De Natale connected with Keys who buried a reversal shot from the top of the circle for her first goal of the season, giving Scranton a 4-1 advantage.
- Vassar responded with the next two goals of the game, cutting Scranton's lead to 4-3 with 11:06 left in the game.
- Scranton scored an insurance goal at the 6:52 mark of the fourth quarter when De Natale deflected another rebound into the cage for her second goal of the game to make it a 5-3 lead for the Royals.

- De Natale matched a career high five points and two goals, which she set Saturday against New Paltz.
- Bechtel recorded a career-high three assists.
- Keys tallied one goal and one assist.
