YORK, PA -- The University of Scranton field hockey team was defeated for the first time this season as the Royals fell 3-2 against No. 10 York College on Saturday afternoon at Kinsley Field.

How it Happened
- After freshman goalie Mariselle Camillone made a save on the first shot of York's first penalty corner attempt of the afternoon, the Spartans gathered the deflection and scored to go up 1-0 with 5:04 to go in the first quarter.
- York extended its advantage to 2-0 just 1:09 into the second quarter and added its third goal of the game 3:01 later to take a 3-0 lead.
- With 4:26 left in the second quarter, after York's keeper made a save on a shot by senior Annie Shaw, sophomore Shana Goldsmith collected the rebound and scored to cut the Spartans' lead to 3-1.
- On Scranton's fifth corner attempt in the fourth quarter, the Royals finally broke through as junior Maggie Keys returned a pass to sophomore Lydia Bechtel, who fired a perfect shot on the run into the left corner of the cage to bring the Royals within one goal with 2:54 to go in the game.
- Despite senior goalkeeper MacLean Thuermer's six saves in the second half and the Royals offense putting six shots on goal in the fourth quarter, their comeback fell short as they lost 3-2.
