How It Happened
- The two teams traded baskets early, with the game remaining close through the opening minutes. Sophomore Will Marion buried a three-pointer at the 12-minute mark to give Scranton an 11–10 edge, but Goucher answered with a 7–0 run to take a 17–11 lead just over nine minutes into the half.
- Back-to-back three-pointers around the five-minute mark pushed Goucher's advantage to its largest of the game at 30–17, and the Gophers carried a 13-point lead into halftime.
- Scranton opened the second half with energy as freshman Ben Robinson connected from deep to cut the deficit to 10. Moments later, sophomore Sammy Tornabene scored three straight baskets to pull the Royals within six at the 14:43 mark.
- The Royals continued to chip away, and junior Brendan Carr caught fire from beyond the arc, drilling three triples midway through the half to trim Goucher's lead to just two with under nine minutes remaining. Scranton took its first lead of the second half with 5:53 to play.
- Goucher tied the game at 62 with just over a minute remaining after splitting a pair at the free-throw line. Scranton had several opportunities to win in regulation but was unable to convert, sending the game to overtime.
- The Royals seized control early in the extra period as Robinson and senior Jon Spatola knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to give Scranton a six-point cushion. After a Goucher basket, Carr answered with another triple to restore a five-point advantage. Carr and Spatola then hit key free throws down the stretch to secure a 74–71 overtime victory.
