The University of Scranton athletic department capped a highly successful Fall 2025 season with standout performances across multiple programs, positioning the Royals among the nation's top Division III athletic departments.
Following the conclusion of the fall season, Scranton ranks 49th nationally in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, reflecting the department's excellence across competition, academics, and postseason success.
The Landmark Conference also made a strong showing in the final fall standings of the 2025–26 Learfield Directors' Cup, with five Landmark institutions earning Top 100 national rankings, underscoring the league's continued rise on the national stage.
Established by the National Association of Collegiate Directors, the Learfield Directors' Cup awards points based on institutions' performances in NCAA Championships, recognizing overall athletic excellence across the academic year.
Cross Country
Scranton's men's and women's cross country programs delivered consistent team performances throughout the fall, highlighted by strong postseason finishes and conference-wide success.
At the Landmark Conference Championships, the women's team finished third, while the men placed fifth, continuing the programs' tradition of competitiveness within the league. Both squads advanced to the NCAA Regional Championships, where the men finished 11th and the women placed 14th.
As a program, Scranton earned two All-Region honors, three All-Conference selections, and recorded eight total team top-five finishes across the season, reflecting the depth and balance of the roster.
Individually, Emily Hopkins was named the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete, recognizing her excellence both academically and athletically.
Field Hockey
The field hockey team put together one of the most accomplished seasons in program history, finishing with a 17–4 overall record and capturing the 2025 Landmark Conference Championship along with a perfect 9–0 mark in league play.
The Royals earned seven All-Conference selections and three All-Region honors. Annie Shaw earned All-American honors and was named the Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete, while Maclean Thuermer was selected as the Landmark Defensive Player of the Year. The coaching staff earned Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year recognition.
Men's Soccer
Scranton men's soccer enjoyed a historic fall, finishing 13-1-6 and earning a No. 17 final national ranking. The Royals recorded their first NCAA Tournament win since 2016, marking a major milestone for the program. The team also led the nation in several defensive statistics in a record-breaking season.
Logan Campbell headlined a deep list of honors, earning National Scholar Player of the Year, Landmark Defensive Player of the Year, and Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete recognition. The Royals totaled two All-American selections, three Scholar All-Americans, three Scholar All-East Region selections, two Academic All-Americans, six Academic All-District selections, and nine All-Conference selections. The coaching staff was also named Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year.
Women's Soccer
The women's soccer team posted a 15-3-3 record and captured the 2025 Landmark Conference Championship for the sixth consecutive year, continuing its status as one of the conference's premier programs.
Scranton earned one All-American selection, Aileen Carr, along with two Scholar All-Americans, three Scholar All-Region selections, five All-Region honors, six Academic All-District selections, and seven All-Conference selections. Jenna Borelli was named Landmark Offensive Player of the Year, while Carr earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Liv Enderle was selected as the Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete, and the coaching staff earned Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year recognition.
Women's Volleyball
The women's volleyball team wrapped up the fall with a 21–11 overall record and a runner-up finish at the 2025 Landmark Conference Championship.
Deanna Whelpley led the Royals with a standout season, earning All-American honors and being named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year. Scranton also totaled two All-Region selections, three Academic All-District honors, and four All-Conference selections, highlighting the program's balance of athletic and academic excellence.
