SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team battled for all 60 minutes but ultimately fell, 13-10, to No. 17 Wesleyan Tuesday evening at Weiss Field.

How it Happened
- Wesleyan struck first in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead, then added two more goals at the 4:32 mark and again 41 seconds later to extend the lead to 3-0.
- Scranton answered with 2:14 left in the first period when Jason Kozak assisted Quinn Carson for the Royals' first goal of the game.
- With 1:31 remaining in the first, the Cardinals scored their fourth goal of the afternoon.
- Fifteen seconds later, Kyle Holmes found Myles McCutcheon, who buried the shot to pull the Royals within two. Then, with just five seconds left in the period, McCutcheon took a pass from Brendan Donohue and scored to cut Wesleyan's lead to 4-3.
- Wesleyan scored the first goal of the second period at the 10:15 mark to stretch the lead to 5-3. Scranton responded at the 5:50 mark when Carson took a feed from Kozak and scored to cut the deficit to one goal.
- Carson found the back of the net with 1:40 left in the first half to tie the game at 5-5.
- After Wesleyan won the faceoff to begin the third quarter, Nolan Sampson went to goal and slipped a shot through the legs of Carsen Kirchner to put the Cardinals back in front, 6-5.
- Kirchner denied a low shot from Cooper Mendelsohn, and Scranton quickly capitalized in transition as Chris Vanco found McCutcheon, who buried the shot for his third goal of the game to tie the score at 6-6.
- The Cardinals answered quickly, regaining the lead just 1:10 later. They then scored a pair of goals seven seconds apart to take a 9-6 lead with 6:56 left in the third quarter.
- Scranton answered at the 5:32 mark when Donohue connected with McCutcheon again, who found the back of the net for the fourth time to pull Scranton within two goals.
- With 1:44 to go in the third period, Donohue fed Holmes, who fired a shot into the left corner of the net to pull Scranton within one goal, but Wesleyan won the ensuing faceoff and scored to go back up by two heading into the fourth quarter.
- Wesleyan extended the lead to 11-8 two minutes into the fourth quarter, but Scranton answered at the 11:28 mark when Holmes took a feed from Kevin Kukla and scored to pull the Royals within two goals.
- The Cardinals responded quickly to the Holmes goal, scoring at the 11:14 mark and again with 4:11 left in the game to push the lead to 13-9.
- Scranton got back within two at the 2:53 mark when Kozak fired a pass from midfield to McCutcheon, who buried the shot for his fifth goal of the game to pull the Royals within two. The late push fell short, however, as Scranton fell, 13-10.
