Scranton Men's Lacrosse Dominates Goucher in Landmark Opener, 17-4

TOWSON, MD -- The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team dominated on the road, earning a 17-4 victory over Goucher College on Saturday afternoon at Towson, MD.

How it Happened

  • Scranton opened the game with a fast start, scoring four unanswered goals in the first quarter. Chase Ritcey netted the game's first goal at 12:11, followed by Kyle Holmes, who scored unassisted at 10:58 to make it 2-0. Ritcey added his second goal at 6:36, assisted by Quinn Carson, and Holmes capped the period with a tally from David Dubas to give the Royals a 4-0 lead.
  • The Royals carried the momentum into the second quarter, with Jason Kozak scoring at 14:29 and Brian Kraemer following 1 second later off an assist from Shawn Martin to push the lead to 6-0. David Dubas and Kraemer each added goals before Goucher finally got on the board at 5:52 with a goal from Jacob Morgan. Holmes and Kraemer responded with additional goals to send Scranton into halftime ahead 10-1.
  • Scranton continued to dominate in the third quarter, scoring the first five goals of the period. Kraemer and Holmes each added goals, followed by Dubas, Carson, and Connor Cuonzo, extending the lead to 15-1. Goucher added a single goal late in the period, but Scranton's offense remained relentless.
  • In the fourth quarter, Kevin Gearhart and Milan Temple scored for Goucher to trim the deficit slightly, but Jason Kozak and Jude Sargent added goals for Scranton to close out the 17-4 victory.
