Scranton Men’s Basketball: Spatola, Tornabene Earn All-Landmark Honors; Robinson Named Rookie of the Year

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Landmark Conference announced its 2025-26 Men's Basketball All-Conference selections on Wednesday morning, as The University of Scranton placed three student-athletes on the league's all-conference list, highlighted by a major award winner.

Senior guard Jon Spatola and sophomore forward Sammy Tornabene were both named Second Team All-Landmark Conference selections, while freshman guard Ben Robinson earned Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year honors. 

The selections mark continued success for the Royals program, which has now produced back-to-back Landmark Conference Rookies of the Year in Robinson and Tornabene. 

Scranton finished the season with a 19-7 overall record, including a 12-6 mark in Landmark Conference play. The 19 victories represent a seven-win improvement from last year and a 15-win turnaround from two seasons ago.

Jon SpatolaSecond Team All-Landmark Conference

  • Season averages: 11.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists per game
  • Tallied 137 assists (1st in the conference; T-23rd in the nation) and 55 steals (3rd in the conference)
  • Led the conference and ranked 31st in the nation with a 2.54 assist/turnover ratio
  • Season highlights:
    • 17 points at Centenary (Nov. 14)
    • 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists vs. Catholic (Jan. 17)
    • 10 points, 15 assists vs. Juniata (Jan. 31)
    • 10 points, 10 assists vs. Elizabethtown (Feb. 7)
    • 21 points, 5 assists vs. Susquehanna (Feb. 24)
  • Career milestones:
    • 1,069 career points – 40th all-time in school history
    • 237 career steals – 2nd all-time for program and conference
    • 405 career assists – T-9th all-time at Scranton
    • Only player in program history with 1,000+ points, 400+ rebounds, 400+ assists, and 200+ steals

Sammy TornabeneSecond Team All-Landmark Conference

  • Led team in scoring: 17.8 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per contest
  • Tied for 6th in the Landmark Conference in scoring
  • Shooting: .498 FG%, .444 3PT%, with 48 assists, 16 steals, and 13 blocks
  • Reached double figures in 22 of the 24 games that he appeared in, including 9 outings with 20 or more points
  • Posted 3 double-doubles on the season
  • Season highlights:
    • 32 points at Juniata (Dec. 6)
    • 28 points vs. Stevens (Dec. 14)
    • 30 points, 13 rebounds vs. Nazareth (Dec. 20)
    • 20 points, 11 rebounds at King's (Jan. 3)
    • 23 points, 19 rebounds vs. Elizabethtown (Jan. 7)

Ben Robinson Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year

  • Season averages: 6.9 points, 3.5 rebounds in 28.8 minutes per game
  • Shooting: .527 FG%, .519 3PT%, with 27 three-pointers
  • Added 41 assists and 26 steals
  • Reached double figures in 8 games
  • Season highlights:
    • 15 points at Goucher (Jan. 24)
    • 19 points vs. Juniata (Jan. 31)
    • 13 points vs. Moravian (Feb. 4)
