Royal Reflection: Hamilton Roth, Men's Basketball

Royal Reflection highlights senior student-athletes who represent what it means to be a Royal. In this edition, we feature Hamilton Roth of The University of Scranton men's basketball team as he reflects on the moments that defined his time as a Royal. 

Describe your Scranton experience in three words 

  • Rewarding, Memorable, and Connected 

What does being a Royal athlete mean to you? 

  • Being a Royal athlete means representing Scranton with pride and being part of something bigger than myself while building lifelong friendships and memories with teammates. 

Do you have a go-to pre-game or pre-competition ritual? 

  • Listening to music in the locker room with my teammates before we head up to the court. 

What's the biggest lesson you've learned as a Royal athlete? 

  • Setbacks are part of the journey, but things always get better.  

Favorite memory? 

  • Beating Catholic, who was ranked No. 23 in the country, and extending our win streak to 11 games. 

What's something you've learned from a teammate that has stuck with you? 

  • Not to take everything too seriously and to enjoy the time you have playing basketball with your friends. 

Any advice for incoming student-athletes? 

  • Work hard and always be willing to do the extra work. It will pay off in the end. 

What are you most proud of from your time at Scranton? 

  • I'm most proud of the relationships I've built and how much I've grown at Scranton. These experiences have prepared me for life after college. 

What's one message you'd like to leave for your teammates? 

  • Enjoy every moment because it goes by faster than you think.
