GETTYSBURG, PA – The No. 17 University of Scranton women's lacrosse team made a late push but ultimately fell to No. 7 Gettysburg College, 14-10, at Clark Field on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Basics 

• Final Score: No. 7 Gettysburg – 14; No. 17 Scranton – 10 

• Records: No. 7 Gettysburg (1-2); No. 17 Scranton (2-3) 

How it Happened 

• Gettysburg struck first, netting the game's opening two goals, the first at 13:53 and another just two minutes later, to build a 2-0 lead. 

• After Eileen Hewitt tracked down a loose ball in traffic, she dished to Jillian Lopez, who buried a bounce shot to put Scranton on the scoreboard with 10:46 left in the first quarter. 

• Gettysburg answered with a goal at the 7:35 mark to push its advantage back to two, 3-1. 

• The Royals came right back just 34 seconds later, as Alexandra Back drove to the cage and scored to cut the deficit to one. Less than a minute after that, fellow freshman Lylah Wilhelm capitalized on a free-position attempt to knot the score at 3-3. 

• Gettysburg regained the lead at the 5:54 mark of the first quarter and struck again 1:10 later to make it 5-3. The Bullets added their third consecutive goal on a free-position shot, carrying a 6-3 lead into the second quarter. 

• The Bullets began the second quarter with two goals in the opening four minutes, stretching their lead to 8-3. 

• With 3:28 remaining in the first half, Lopez finished off a pass from Natalie Paul to trim the deficit to 8-4. 

• Gettysburg quickly countered, finding the back of the net just 17 seconds later to push the lead to 9-4, and added another goal at the 2:42 mark to open up a six-goal advantage heading into halftime. 

• The Bullets offense continued to score as they opened the third quarter with a goal just 12 seconds into the half and added another at the 12:34 mark to extend the lead to 12-4. 

• Scranton's Eileen Hewitt scored an unassisted goal with 11:35 mark, but Gettysburg responded with a pair of goals to close out the third period with a 14-5 edge. 

• Lopez opened the fourth quarter with her third goal of the game to cut the Bullets' lead to 14-6 with 11:57 remining. Then, with 5:40 left in the fourth, Lopez found Wilhem in transition who buried the shot to make it 14-7. 

• Lopez scored her fourth goal of the afternoon with 4:35 on a free position shot, then two minutes later, Hewitt found Grace DiDominica who scored to get Scranton within five goals at 14-9. 

• With 27 seconds left in the contest, Lopez scored her fifth goal of the game, but the fourth quarter run fell short for Scranton as they fell 14-10.
