Scranton Men's Lacrosse Places 10 on All-Landmark Teams; Giarrusso Named Defensive Player of the Year, Coaching Staff Earns Top Honors

The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team had 10 student-athletes earn All-Landmark Conference honors, as announced by the conference office today.

The Royals were also recognized with the Landmark Defensive Player of the Year award and Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year honors following another undefeated conference season.

Colin Giarrusso – Defensive Player of the Year / First Team Short Stick Midfielder

  • This marks the second consecutive First Team All-Conference selection of Giarrusso's career.
  • Giarrusso anchored a Scranton defense that allowed a conference-low 45 goals during Landmark regular season play, with no conference opponent scoring more than nine goals against the Royals.
  • He totaled 32 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers on the season.
  • Giarrusso's Defensive Player of the Year honor marks the third straight season a Royal has earned the award, joining Colin Pierce (2024) and Zachariah Palinkas (2025).

Kyle Holmes – First Team Attacker

  • Holmes earned First Team All-Conference honors for the second straight season.
  • He leads the Royals with 44 goals and paced the conference with 35 goals during conference play while ranking second on the team with 54 total points.
  • Earlier this season he broker the program's career goals record and is currently five goals away from reaching 200 career goals. 

Quinn Carson – First Team Midfielder

  • After earning Second Team All-Conference honors last season, Carson moved up to the first team in 2026.
  • He leads Scranton with 59 points and has totaled a team-high 20 assists along with 39 goals on the season.
  • During conference play, Carson ranked among the Landmark leaders in goals, assists, and points.

Jason Kozak – First Team Midfielder

  • Kozak earned First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season.
  • He ranks third on the team with 35 points on 18 goals and 17 assists.

Connor Cole – First Team Defenseman

  • Cole earned his first career First Team All-Conference selection after being named to the second team last season.
  • He anchored a Scranton defense that allowed a conference-low 45 goals during Landmark play while leading the Royals with 18 caused turnovers.
  • Cole also ranked tied for fifth in the conference in caused turnovers during conference competition and tied for third on the team in ground balls.

Thomas Popolizio – First Team Long Stick Midfielder

  • Popolizio earned First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season.
  • He ranks tied for second on the team with 17 caused turnovers and has also added 15 ground balls on the year.

Carsen Kirchner – First Team Goalkeeper

  • Kirchner earned First Team All-Conference recognition for the second straight season.
  • He leads the conference with a 7.20 goals-against average and a .635 save percentage overall.
  • During conference play, Kirchner posted a 4.42 goals-against average and a .710 save percentage while allowing just 27 total goals in net.

Logan Kelly – Second Team Defenseman

  • Kelly earned the first All-Conference honor of his career.
  • He ranks tied for second on the team in caused turnovers and tied for third in ground balls while also ranking tied for ninth in the conference in caused turnovers during Landmark play.

Shawn Martin – Second Team Faceoff Specialist

  • Martin collected the first All-Conference honor of his career.
  • He posted a .672 faceoff percentage during conference action and won 139-of-266 faceoffs overall on the season for a .523 percentage.

Brendan Donohue – Honorable Mention Midfielder

  • Donohue earned the first All-Conference recognition of his career.
  • He recorded 24 points on 10 goals and 14 assists while also adding 14 ground balls on the season.

Coaching Staff of the Year

Assistant Coach: Clay Arnold

  • Scranton's staff earned Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the second time in program history, adding to the recognition first earned in 2021.
  • The Royals finished unbeaten in conference play for the second straight season and led the Landmark Conference in both scoring offense and scoring defense during conference competition, totaling 190 goals while allowing just 45.
