The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 15-7 victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon in Glassboro, N.J.
- With the win, Scranton advances to the second round of the tournament and will face host Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey for a second-round matchup on tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
- This marks the third straight season that Scranton earned a win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

How It Happened
- Jillian Lopez opened the scoring 38 seconds into the game, burying a feed from Natalie Paul to put Scranton ahead 1-0. Just 21 seconds later, Eileen Hewitt connected with Alexandra Back, who scored to push the lead to 2-0.
- St. Mary's responded quickly with a pair of goals to tie the score at two with 9:58 remaining in the first quarter.
- Grace DiDominica found the back of the net at the 5:52 mark to put Scranton back in front. Allyson Flynn then grabbed a feed from Back and scored with 5:03 left in the frame, DiDominica scored again 27 seconds later, and Flynn recorded her second goal of the game with 55 seconds left in the first period to push Scranton's lead to 6-2.
- The Royals scored the first three goals of the second period to extend their lead to 9-2. Hewitt opened the scoring in the second with a goal at the 13:27 mark. Flynn followed with her third goal of the day less than a minute later and Lylah Wilhelm grabbed a feed from Lopez and scored to cap off the run.
- A pair of Seahawks' goals cut Scranton's advantage to 9-4, but Lopez and Paul responded with goals to send the Royals into halftime ahead 11-4.
- Back opened the scoring in the third period with her second goal of the day at the 11:49 mark before the Seahawks scored twice over the next four minutes to make the score 12-6.
- Hewitt found the back of the net for her second goal of the contest with 7:15 remaining in the third period, and Lopez scored her third goal at the 3:32 mark to give the Royals a 14-6 lead heading into the final stanza.
- St. Mary's scored the fourth quarter's first goal at the 10:19 mark to cut the Seahawks' deficit to seven goals.
- Colleen Mullin joined the scoring with her 24th goal of the season with 6:28 remaining to cap off a strong 15-7 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
