Royal Reflection: Conor Doogan, Men's Swimming

Interview Conducted by Athletic Communications Intern Mallory Woodland

Royal Reflection highlights the senior student-athletes who represents what it means to be a Royal. In this edition, we feature Conor Doogan of The University of Scranton men's swim and dive team as he reflects on the moments that defined his time as a Royal.

Describe your Scranton experience in three words

  • Captivating, motivating, unforgettable.

What does being a Royal athlete mean to you?

  • To me, being a Royal athlete means taking part in something unique and larger than yourself that not many people have the opportunity to do.

Do you have a go-to pre game or pre-competition ritual?

  • Third breakfast with the guys, black coffee, and 2 liquid IV.

What's the biggest lesson you've learned as a Royal athlete?

  • Know yourself so that you can be your best self, both in and out of competition, for yourself and your teammates.

Favorite memory?

  • Men's team dinner in Florida in 2026.

What's something you've learned from a teammate that has stuck with you?

  • "What we're doing is fun. Keep it that way and don't put more pressure on yourself." - Zach Leonard '28

What are you most proud of from your time at Scranton?

  • I am most proud of the relationships I have made that will last me a lifetime.

What's one message you'd like to leave for your teammates?

  • Cherish the good times and take the disappointing times as opportunities to grow, not dig yourself deeper.

Any advice for incoming student-athletes?

  • Lean on your people.
