The University of Scranton women's volleyball team defeated #13 Tufts in a five-set thriller Saturday afternoon at the John Long Center. The Royals defeated the Jumbos by scores of
(19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 27-25, 15-11), improving their record to 2-0.
How It Happened
- The Royals opened the first set on a 4-0 rally sparked by Freshman Angela Bush and Sophomore Adria Vargas, who each recorded three kills apiece in the first set.
- After the Jumbos took a 20-15 lead, the Royals fought back to get within one, before ultimately dropping the set 25-19.
- The Royals defense shifted the momentum in the second set when Freshmen Kasia Burda and Natalie Kettler teamed up for a massive block to bring the Royals within one.
- Scranton held on to win the set 25-23, tying the game at 1-1.
- In the third set, the Royals and Jumbos traded points, with Tufts ultimately gaining a 2-1 set advantage, winning 25-21.
- Onto the fourth, the Royals fought hard to stay in the game, forcing extra points and getting the set-win 27-25.
- The Royals set the tempo in the fifth set, scoring five straight points to take a 10-6 lead.
