Biography

  • Four-year letter-winner who started 109 of 110 career games.
  • Averaged 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 blocks and 0.9 steals per game.
  • Scranton's all-time leader in scoring with 1,911 career points.
  • Ranks second in field goal percentage (57.8), second in games started (109), third in field goals made (710), fourth in free throws attempted (643), fifth in free throws made (471), sixth in blocks (150), eighth in rebounding (837), tied for 10th in games played (110), tied for 20th in steals (98), 29th in assists (221) on the Royals' career lists.
  • Is one of only two players in school history with at least 1,000 points, 800 rebounds and 200 assists in a career.

Senior Year (2015-16)

  • Earned first-team All-American honors from D3hoops.com and third-team All-American honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

  • Scored in double figures in 26 of 27 games, including 16 games of 20 or more points.
  • Had five games of 30 or more points, including 35 twice -- in a 78-67 win over Ithaca on Nov. 17, and in a 79-74 loss at Catholic on Feb. 20.
  • Pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds on three occasions.
  • Had two or more blocks eight times.
  • Had 10 games of four or more assists.
  • Made a career-high 18 3-pointers, shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.
  • Shot 76.6 percent from the free throw line, making 141 of 184 attempts.

Junior Year (2014-15)

  • Led Royals in scoring (17.3), rebounding (7.2), blocked shots (1.3), field goal percentage (.610), and free throw shooting percentage (.772)
  • Was one of two players to be named Jesuit Basketball Spotlight National Player of the Week twice during the season (Kyle Wiltjer of Gonzaga was the other)
  • Was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the Landmark Conference postseason tournament for the second straight year after leading the Royals to wins over Susquehanna University and top-seeded Catholic University (scored 7 points and pulled down season-high 13 rebounds against Susquehanna in a semifinal, and had 23 points and 12 rebounds against Catholic)
  • Led Landmark in scoring and blocks, was second in rebounding and field goal percentage, sixth in steals, and seventh in free throw percentage
  • Finished 16th in NCAA Division III in field goal percentage and 20th among active players in career field goal percentage
  • Scored in double figures in 25 games and pulled down at least 10 rebounds eight times
  • Scored 20-or-more points 10 times, including season-high of 24 each against Centenary (Nov. 15) and Goucher (Jan. 10)
  • Scored the 1,000th point of his career on January 3 against Wilkes University in the fourth annual Cross County Challenge at King's College, becoming the 42nd player in Royals' history to reach this milestone.  He was also named the challenge's most valuable player (MVP).
  • Also earned all-tournament honors at the season-opening Radisson/PNC Bank Invitational, scoring 24 points in a 69-54 win over Centenary College and scoring 11 points and blocking three shots in a 57-54 victory over Alvernia University in the championship game

Sophomore Year (2013-2014)

  • Named the Landmark Conference postseason tournament most valuable player (MVP) on the strength of his 23-point, 11-rebound outburst against Susquehanna in the league's championship game on March 1 at the Long Center
  • Led Royals in field goal percentage (59.8 percent) and blocks (2.0) for the second straight year and was runner-up to Ross Danzig in rebounding (7.2) for the second consecutive season
  • Recorded five 'double-doubles' in points and rebounds, the most dominating performance being his career-high 37-point, 14-rebound, 6-block, 3-assist effort in 27 minutes of action in the Royals' 94-77 victory over Keystone College on Dec. 31
  • Scored in double figures in 21 games, including eight games with 20-or-more points
  • Named all-tournament at the Radisson Invitational and the Cross County Challenge
  • Shot 50 percent or higher from the field in 20 games, including 13 in which he shot at least 60 percent
  • Blocked 56 shots, the most by a Royal since Eli Londo blocked 61 in 2010
  • Finished second in field goal percentage and blocks, fourth in rebounding, fifth in scoring and defensive rebounds per game, and sixth in offensive rebounds per game in the Landmark Conference
  • Finished 23rd in field goal percentage, 50th in blocks per game, 70th in free throws attempted, 98th in free throws made, 177th in scoring, and 218th in rebounding in the final NCAA Division III statistical rankings

Freshman Year (2012-13)

  • Led Royals in field goal percentage (.550) and blocked shots (25) and finished second in scoring (13.2) and rebounding (7.3)
  • Scored 20-or-more points six times, including a season-high 24-point effort on 11 of 15 shooting from the field in a 94-93 loss in overtime to Keystone College on December 15
  • Scored in double figures 20 times
  • Earned all-tournament honors after averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the PNC Bank Royal Rumble on Dec. 17-18 at the Long Center
  • Tied Ross Danzig for the team lead in double-doubles with five, including a 17-point, 11-rebound performance in an 84-74 loss in double overtime to Juniata College in a Landmark Conference semifinal game on February 20 at the Long Center
  • Shot at least 50 percent from the field 15 times
  • Led Landmark Conference in field goal percentage (.550) and finished second in defensive rebounds per game (5.4), fourth in overall rebounding (7.3), seventh in blocked shots (1.0), and tied for eighth  in offensive rebounds per game (1.9)
  • Finished 60th in field goal percentage, 173rd in 'double-doubles', 188th in rebounding, and 222nd in blocks in the final NCAA Division III rankings

  • Loyola was ranked as high as seventh in the nation by MaxPreps at one time in 2012 and eventually finished in the top 60

  • Son of John & Susan Boken, each of whom is a graduate of the University of Santa Clara
  • His cousin and high school teammate, Thomas Welsh, was a 2014 McDonald’s All-American and currently plays for UCLA
