ANNVILLE, Pa.—Despite two wins from junior Devon Cohen (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), The
University of Scranton women’s tennis team dropped a 5-4
decision to Lebanon Valley College in non-conference action
Saturday afternoon.
Cohen teamed with freshman Emily
Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) to defeat
Christie Graf and Amelia Capuano, 8-6, at the number one doubles,
then came back to top Meghan Muccilli, 6-3, 6-1, at the number four
singles. Cohen is now 14-17 in both singles and doubles in
her career.
Scranton, now 1-1, also received wins in singles from sophomores
Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg,
Pa./Trinity) and Lisa-Marie Lanciotti (Northport, NY/Kings
Park). Mahaffey picked up her first win of the
season and ninth of her career with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Lauren
Fulmer at the number three singles and Lanciotti improved to 2-0 on
the year by downing Mary Kate Lemon, 6-2, 6-3, at five.
