HILTON HEAD, SC—The University of Scranton women’s
tennis team fell to 1-3 on the season with a 7-2 loss to the
College of St. Benedict (Minn.) this morning.
The Royals picked up both of their points in doubles, as the
sophomore tandem of Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) and Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity)
downed Beth Richmond and Rachel/Raden, 8-6, to improve their record
to 2-1 on the season. Senior captain Lindsay Ward (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Ryan)
and freshman Courtney
Barron (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) earned their
first win of the season as a doubles team with an 8-4 win over Stef
Havemeier and Alli Renze.
Scranton will return to action this evening against Carroll
University (Wisconsin) at 6:30 p.m.
