HILTON HEAD, SC—The University of Scranton women’s
tennis team ended a four-match Spring Break trip on a positive note
Saturday morning, downing Franklin College (Indiana), 9-0.
The Royals, now 2-4 overall, received two wins apiece today from
senior captain Lindsay Ward (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Ryan),
junior Devon Cohen (Ambler,
Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), sophomores Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) and
Nicole Mahaffey (Harrisburg,
Pa./Trinity), and freshmen Courtney
Barron (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) and Emily
Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory).
Cohen picked up the 15th win over her career in singles, defeating
Melissa Sanders, 6-3, 6-2, at the number one position in the lineup
and improved her team-leading record to 3-3 on the year.
Azzalina and Mahaffey improved to their team-leading record in
doubles to 4-1 by defeating Chelsea Howell and Chelsea Platt, 8-3,
at number two.
The Royals will return to action this Tuesday, April 2, against
Drew University in Landmark Conference action beginning at 3:30
p.m.
