Freshman Sarah Crawford of The University of Scranton women's tennis team has been selected as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, Crawford went 2-0 with a three set win in her No. 1 singles match and a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.Â
Crawford spearheaded the Royals' dominant 7-0 win over Susquehanna University in their Landmark Conference opener on Saturday at the Royal Courts. She teamed with Gisele Falzone to post a 6-0 win at No.1 doubles, then turned in a perfect performance in singles by blanking her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the No.1 spot.
Her performances helped set the tone for a comprehensive team effort in which Scranton swept all seven matches.
This marks the first Landmark Athlete of the Week honor of Crawford's collegiate career.
Up next, Scranton will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 2 at Lycoming College.
