WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team got off to a slow start, dropping all three doubles matches, and couldn't catch up in a 6-3 loss at Catholic University in a Landmark Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

Scranton (3-5, 1-1 Landmark) received singles victories from junior Devon Cohen (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), sophomore Megan Azzalina (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) and freshman Emily Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) in the loss.

Cohen toughed out a three-set victory at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 2-6, 6-0, over Catholic junior Elizabeth Harvey (Brightwaters, N.Y./St. John the Baptist).

Azzalina also won in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), at No. 3 singles against senior Ritamarie Holden (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown).

Walsh defeated Catholic junior Elaina Sceusa (Morganville, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), 6-3, 7-6 at No. 4 singles.

The victory improved Catholic to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in Landmark Conference play.

The Royals are back in action on Tuesday, April 9, when they host Drew University at 3:30 p.m. at Royal Courts at DeNaples Fields.
