MT. COBB, Pa.—All six seniors on The University of
Scranton men’s golf team were in the lineup against Marywood
University at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course Friday
afternoon.
And they came through with flying colors for veteran head coach Ed
Karpovich, leading the Royals to a 297-303 victory.
Senior co-captain Charles Hudacek (Moosic, Pa./Scranton
Preparatory) shot an even-par and season-low round of 72
to lead the Royals, now 6-0 on the season. Scranton also
received a 73 from junior Erik
Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), 75 from
senior co-captain Grant
Gulick (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City), and 77 from
senior Kevin Kucharski (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon).
Freshman Michael Thomas (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) led the
Pacers with a 73 and senior Paul Kania (Moosic, Pa./Riverside) and
junior Devan Crowley (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) had 76s.
Rounding out the Pacers top four scores was sophomore Jack Lawless
(Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) with a 78.
Also competing for the Royals today were seniors Brandon Gano (Bridgewater,
NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), Andrew Loyack (Greenfield Township, Pa./Scranton
Preparatory), and Dan
Penetar (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory), and
freshman Steven Lambrinakos (Stamford,
Conn./Trinity). Gano fired a 78, Loyack 81,
Lambrinakos 84, and Penetar 85.
Hudacek’s 72 was just two strokes shy of tying his
career-low round of 70, which he shot in winning the Utica Fall
Invitational individual title on September 4, 2011, at the Kanon
Valley Country Club in Oneida, New York.
