HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Seniors David Teres (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) and Brian Williams (Madison, N.J./Madison), and freshman Matt Prendergast (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) all won a pair of matches on Friday to lead The University of Scranton men's tennis team to a 6-3 victory over FDU-Florham on the final day of the team's spring break trip.
Teres and Williams got the ball rolling by teaming for an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Prendergast teamed with junior Ryan Bair (Leola, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles as Scranton (2-2) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
In singles play, Teres picked up an easy 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, Prendergast earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles, and Williams pulled out a 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 win at No. 3. The Royals also received a singles win from senior James Dalkiewicz (Shavertown, Pa./Lake-Lehman), who rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
Scranton will open Landmark Conference play on Sunday, March 23, when they face Goucher College at 1 p.m. in Towson, Md.
